Congratulations to the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) and Place Services General Contracting. for earning Gordian’s 2022 Job Order Contracting (JOC) Award of Merit! The GDA, which operates nine State Farmers Markets contributing to over $1 billion in annual sales, faced a critical situation when a load-bearing wall at the Atlanta Farmers Market was at risk of failing. State leaders swiftly mobilized to address the issue, accelerating the procurement process by utilizing Gordian’s JOC through Georgia’s state program.
This efficient procurement approach allowed contractors to be on-site in roughly six weeks. Working collaboratively with Place Services, Inc., Gordian helped put temporary shoring and scaffolding in place to support the building’s roof load, ensuring the Atlanta Farmers Market could continue providing a steady marketplace for farmers and fresh produce for local restaurants, grocery stores and the people of Georgia.
For 15 years, Gordian has presented this prestigious award to honor organizations and individuals for their innovative use of JOC.
